Surveyor positions vary depending on end client and software.The role generally involves data acquisition and survey positioning.
The Surveyor is involved in all aspects of ocean data from mapping the ocean floor to finding the minerals that lie beneath.The Surveyor also installs and operates positioning sensors to position vessels and structures above and below the water and is responsible for the data processing stage through to final reporting stage.
Projects involving Surveyors include offshore pipeline inspection surveys, cable installations, sea and ocean charting or environmental studies. Durations can be from 7-10 days to a regular 4 week onshore/4 week offshore rotation, in various locations throughout the world.
Software packages include Eiva, Qinsy and company specific in-house software.
Qualifications: University Degree in surveying (hydrographic or land), topographic science or related discipline. Related military or industrial training is also acceptable. Minimum of one year operational experience.
